Lot 1 F&R 7 John
Foster who had previously settled on the adjacent farm in Guelph Township came
in quite early and took up all of lot 1. Foster Family included Robert was also on the property in 1871;
John also had a dwelling on the property; he married a daughter of Peter
Mahon. By 1950 part of this was built up in a number of small lots and part was owned by OAC. William McCrae bought this lot Sept 20 1830 but did no clearing. The Stefflers came with several other German families. George Adam, born Alsace 1783 came to Puslinch in 1832. He married Elizabeth Wernsparger in Alsace, and died in 1867. Their son Caspar born 1817 Alsace; carried on as did his son William, who was there in 1875. In 1950,Irwin Steffler, Puslinch Deputy-Reeve, lived on the old homestead until his death in 1956 His son Thomas and family remained operating the farm until its sale in 1960 to become part of the development.. When the farm was subdivided, this farm formed the northern part of the Hanlon Heights subdivision. Lot 3 Archibald McLaren was here early. Nothing done on this lot which has ponds. It was settled by a Quaker family and later sold to Felix Hanlon, for use by his son John in the early 30's, still owned by Hanlons in 1950. It is the centre portion of the Hanlon Heights subdivision.. 1828 census sale to
John McLaren, probably April 16 1830. Bryan Carroll and his wife Catharine
Fedigan came from County Kilkenny, Ireland and had at least 8 children.
Between 1828 and 1831 all the known children and maybe the parents immigrated
to Puslinch township. The Bryan
Carroll children included Catherine (O'Rourke), Ellen (Lynch); Bridget
(Eustace) Joanna m. Thomas Murphy and nothing more is known of this family.
Bryan purchased lot 4 Con 7 and married Mary Kennedy in 1837. (She was a
daughter of the La Guayran Kennedy family).
Their daughter, Isabella, married
Patrick Hanlon.. 1867

Hohenadel there in 1875. This lot was sold to James Crane in 1881 and in 1923 and 1950 occupied by George Crane. Born and educated in Suffolk England James Crane 1818-1900 m Elizabeth Cady and emigrated in 1852 to Waterloo Co. and in 1865 to Puslinch on 170 acres. He was a well read man, a good judge of animals and their ailments. He was a class leader in the Methodist church and was one of the founders of "Howitts Church" where he attended regularly. Issue: Robert, who followed on the farm, Mrs. Wm. Green, John, James, Mrs John McAninch, George, Mrs. Wm Lester, Mrs. George Wood, and Alfred.
