Lot 16 Early documentation Ebenezer Evans reserved to June 24 1831. Ponds. Thomas Todd came to Puslinch with his father in 1832 and settled here. He married Mary McBeath. Their family was William N. Guelph; Peter, Walkerton; Mrs. Keigan Guelph; Isabella and Mary. 1867 resident Robert Cassin 1879-80 Gazetteer James Barclay tenant; Hugh Cassin was the owner, Robert in 1875. 1885 Mrs. R. Cassin. 1923 H. Cassin; 1950 W.J. Clarke Early documentation Morgan Cassin to have this lot at 15/s installment to be paid Jan 1832. In 1832 Morgan Cassin, his wife Margaret Gee and their four young children migrated from Ireland to Puslinch. He purchased squatter's rights for the 200 acres of the lot from Archibald Duthie. The children were Hugh 1811, Robert 1813, Catherine and Martin 1825. Hugh Cassin had been given the front section but it was so rough he gave it back and his father gave him the east half of lot 17 C9 He m. Catherine Laharty who lived with her mother, Mary Cahill Laharty Clear, and her step father John Clear (Clair) on lot 10 Con 8 . Martin Cassin the third son inherited his father's farm. [1867 resident-Martin Cassin] He married Sarah Hammersley in 1858 She was daughter of Squire Hammersley and Elizabeth Gell. The Hammersleys came from the vicinity of Stoke on Trent and owned Hammersley Pottery. Martin and Sarah had 10 children: Ettie 1859 m Henry Foster son of Henry
Foster and Mary Hopkins and they had two daughters Hazel and May. The Fosters
moved near Calgary and one daughter m Dr. Hayes a MD who came to Calgary for
health, got in breeding cattle, came east for shows etc. Their oldest son Harry
Hayes became Mayor of Calgary and later Minister of Ag in Ottawa.
The second Cassin child was known as Kate 1861. She m Wm Foster and they
had three. Alfred b 1862 moved to
Carstairs. Morgan and Lilly twins b 1864 Morgan went to western states. Lilly
was severely retarded. Edward (Ted)
b 1867 He had to look after the younger children when the older boys went west.
Polly 1870 remained single and helped Ted. Thomas 1872 went west. Maggie
1874 became a nurse in Rhode Island m. there Robert 1876 m Elizabeth
Lehman. When Sarah Hammersley Cassin was 48 she contracted pneumonia which at
that time was fatal. Since she was not Roman Catholic, she was baptized
conditionally and received into the church in 1882. She was thus buried with her
husband. Early documentation James Flynn,.then
James McMeekin. McMeekin sold in
1836 to Kenneth McKenzie, afterwards a prominent farmer and MPP in the vicinity
of Portage La Prairie MB. McKenzie was born in Scotland, 1822, he went to MB
about 1868, [1867 Resident Kenneth McKenzie] permanently in 1871. Their family
was all born in Puslinch: Adam, Annie, Kenneth Jr. James, William Thomas, Jean,
Elizabeth and John. Most of them went to MB, etc. His wife was Jane Condy. David Stirton held the property briefly in 1876 and sold to
John Patterson. 1885- 1906 John
Worthington. Mr. Worthington who was a highly respected and successful farmer,
was a native of Wentworth Co. John
Worthington until 1906 at least. Then E.

1923 M Byrnes; 1950 O. Reading Early documentation Sold to Thomas
Edmonston Jan 14 1831.Thomas Edmundson was first owner 1835. Neil McLean settled
in 1852; Emigrated 1848 from Inverness Baby girl died at sea. 2 other girls, and
Kenneth age 3 who played for Guelph Maple Leafs and became a barrister and d
1921 age 76 .Sisters were Catherine who m Peter Stewart; Margaret who d in Los
Angeles and is buried Carberry and Mary, Mrs. Clark of Wellwood MB Parents
remained on farm until they died. 1885 James Kilmer;

Coburn and son Ian.
