This post was obtained from rootsweb SEEKING DESCENDANTS AND ANCESTORS OF MARY SODEN OF GUELPH, ONTARIOMary Foster Soden's, (b. 1820 Ireland, died Guelph, Ontario, Canada 1/18/1895 at age of 75) father John Foster (d. 7-18-1861 at age of 73, native of Tallanstown Parish, County Louth, Ireland) and family emigrated from Ireland to St. Catherines then in 1827 to Guelph.Her mother was Bridget Foster (d.11-7-1869 at age of 96) John Foster owned land on what is now Model Farm (circa 1895) and died in the house where the OAC creamery stood. He also owned on Upper Wyndham Street from Towell's to Hazelton's Block. Mary married Robert Soden (d. 1-28-1873 at age of 49) in 1844 and he ran a general store. He then bought out the Priory Hotel and the Fuhry's Hotel on MacDonnell Street,which was sold out and became the Bay Horse. He went to Cleveland for 6 years but came back to live with his daughter. Her survivors(in 1895) were listed as Robert Townswood, Ohio; Thomas Soden, Chicago; Mary Soden, Detroit; Mrs. Peter Crawley, Puslinch, Ontario (Guelph), Agnes Soden, Cleveland; Margaret Soden, Chicago, Mrs. Emery, Guelph; Mrs. Walsh, Guelph; Mrs. Biggars, Guelph, a sister; Mrs. Civil of Owen Sound, another unnamed sister and Robert Foster of Puslinch, a brother. Pall bearers at the Mary Foster Soden funeral in 1895 were John Brown, James Keleher, A. E. Goodfellow, Mayor Lamprey, R. F. Maddock, and J. Foster. ADDITIONAL HISTORY Samuel J.
